Blob, The whosit, whatsit and why!
A blob is a common practice in Astro Empires but this is specifically directed at SOUND in Ixion Galaxy.
What?
A blob is all the players in the same guild putting all of their mobiles fleets (Any fleet that is not meant for defense) on the same astro. Generally this astro will have a JumpGate on it.
Why?
1. Protection. It is very unlikely that another guild will get together the time and manpower to take out 90% of another guilds fleet in one blow and still get all the debris. It is very unlikely to get your fleet killed in a Blob.
2. Farming. As the whole guild moves from one galaxy to another each player will hit any available targets in each galaxy the blob travels to. It will INCREASE the strength of each player as well as perma farm any guild that is not friendly.
3. Stopping enemy guilds from getting too strong in a certain galaxy as well as killing troublemakers in galaxies where the guild isn't quite as strong.
If you are not in the blob you don't really understand what your doing. :)

Bombers Vs. Fighters
Fighter drop, always a good option. When I was growing up I always told my mom I wanted to be a fighter drop pilot they were so awesome!
Why replace fighters with bombers?
Space.
Bombers and Fighters both take up 1 hangar spot. Bombers do twice the damage making them ideal for long distance operations. They also do more damage to cruisers and carriers making them more efficient when you are fighter dropping a fleet with those in it.
Bombers of course are not good meat unless you are using Heavy cruisers or higher but can really increase the amount of firepower you have on long distance operations! As well as rip cruiser fleets apart with ease. (There will be no survivors hehe!)
Technology.
Yes, that is the one major barrier. However, if you decide to use bombers as your new drop unit, laser tech isn't as important as you will be using them nearly 100% for their armor value to reduce losses so you can focus research on missiles to improve bomber attack.
Comments, questions and rude remarks welcome. :)

Occupation Stealing or Breaking!
It has recently come up in my guild the issue of stealing occupations or breaking them. Let's start by defining the difference.
Stealing- killing the occupying force and then taking the occupation.
*It is not stealing if they leave a fleet so large it is worth going to just kill the fleet for the debris.
Breaking- killing the occupying force and leaving the occupation to recharge defenses etc.
*It is also effective to break occupations made by a player when at a lower level that has grown as they cannot get those occupations back if they are under level 30.
The main difference between the two is the intent. Stealing an occupation is strictly for your benefit. Breaking is to harm the other player for whatever reason. Either way it is important to know if your guild is an occupation stealing guild or not. If it is steal anything you can. If not you should only break if needed to deter attacks and put people in their places.
You should only steal if you are looking for a fight or are already in a guild war. Breaking is fun to do just to slow others down but also to keep people from messing with you as they know you are active and could snipe their occupations again!
Additions.
"Breaking an occ from someone that cannot get it back is all the same if you steal, break or bonk or hump the occ. Its something away from the original occupier and he will most likely retaliate.
Also it seems that some think that if you go around breaking/stealing their occs they 'get it' that they should stop scouting around. Well if someone breaks my occs, whatever the reason I start scouting actually more for occs to break back.
People that are KOS or have done that to you should be fair game to retaliate with same tactics."

AE Pros mission
The goal of this blog is to bring new ideas and strategies to the game of Astro Empires. The game can seem stagnant at times but with some new ideas brought forth and well outlined others can make it more fun for us. We will discuss everything from '10 bases in 7 days', how to build a balanced fleet all the way to how to kill enemy blobs!
